RATT, the Los Ageless rock group is seeing their 1984 hit single (from their multi platinum debut album) "Round & Round" re enters the Billboard Rock Digital Song Sales top (20) and reaching #8 the week of 6/17/2020.
The classic Ratt song “Round and Round” returned to the Billboard Top 20 for the first time since its original release in 1984, thanks to its appearance in a current TV commercial.
Back then, it peaked at No.12; following the success of the ad spot for Geico Insurance, which plays on the idea of a “Ratt problem” by having the band living in a couple’s basement.
Ratt are featured in a new TV commercial for Geico home insurance that’s currently being aired.
In the ad, a couple discuss how they’re very happy with their home – except for a “rat problem,” which turns out to be a “Ratt problem.” Stephen Pearcy and his band are “infesting” their property.
Variety reported that the ad had aired more than 10,000 times since its debut in April and has been viewed more than 8 million times on YouTube. It’s estimated that more than $20 million has been spent on the campaign.
“There’s a really cool grandma that lives next door to us and she goes for walks," Ratt singer Stephen Pearcy said. "One day, I’m out there … and she goes, ‘Are you in a commercial?’ I said, ‘How would you know that?’ She goes, ‘Well, you have a lot of energy.’ And I’m thinking, ‘All right, that’s what a national commercial means. ... It’s ironic, because in 1984 it was the year of the rat in the Chinese calendar, and it’s the year of the rat in 2020. What goes around comes around? No pun intended.”
Justin Harris, creative director at the Martin Agency, who made the commercial, said he and his team thought hard about taking a lighthearted approach when most ads have taken a different tone since the coronavirus pandemic. “At the end of the day, we realized people want to feel a sense of what’s normal again,” he explained. “It didn’t take us long to figure that out, and it was a great way to stay true to the brand.”
“What comes around goes around,” the band said on Facebook. “Ratt is back for more on the Billboard rock digital song sales charts with 'Round and Round.' The band’s first hit single, from their debut record Out of the Cellar, in 1984 re-enters the charts 2020.”
Stephen Pearcy releases the new single "All That I Want ", the new single is from his upcoming sixth solo ecord, release date tba 2021. The new record is again co written with long time guitarist Erik Ferentinos (lead guitarist in Pearcy's solo group) writing partner on the last few Pearcy solo records.

Making the best of it is releasing a new song titled "All That I Want." This is the first song shared by the Ratt frontman since the stay at home scenario for us all began. Pearcy say's; "The song has relevance to what's going on, for me personally, so I thought I'd share. It brings us together where we should always be anyway."
"I hope we all get back to the norm real soon and we can see all of our friends out there at the shows again. The band is crazy to get the "Big Rock Summer" Tour 2020 started, we're more then ready to kick some ass"!
(The single "All That I Want" will be available at iTunes)
Pearcy is sharing some of the songs he's demoing for fans to listen to. Pearcy say's; "Most of these (15 plus) songs will never see the light of day, so it's cool to share a few of them during the making and recording of what in the end is your next record. See what people think. Believe it or not some demos come out better then the full studio recordings. So many ways to record, and put songs out there. And this one song."
The song "All That I Want" just had that emotional feel and just seemed the sign of the times, I just had to share. It might never make a solo record."
Pearcy looking to 2021 to to release his sixth solo record.
"Only fitting at this time to keep active, positive and creative, so I write music." Stephen Pearcy March 30, 2020.
